Metro Rugby Program

The Metro Rugby Program is designed to provide athletes with a competitive tackle experience with limited travel and a moderate commitment of time  and resources.  Most competitions occur within the DFW area and practices are limited to once or twice weekly, with optional participation in periodic skill clinics.  The program is divided into junior-side and youth-side teams.  Below is description of what is offered for each division.

Junior-Side Teams
    • U19 - High School (age 17, 18)
    • U17 - High School (age 15, 16)
    • U15 - Middle School (age 13, 14)

All teams are single sex., but have common practice times.  Athletes may participate in a fall and/or spring season.

Olympic Sevens is played in the fall and consists of 2 or 3 tournaments, held every other weekend.  Teams practice twice weekly begining early November with the last competition in
December (6 to 8 weeks).

The spring season begins twice weekly practices mid-January  with the last competition in  late-April/early-May.

The boys teams play in the Division III Conference for 2013.  Games are either 7-, 10-, 12- or 15-a-side dependent on the number of players available.  The season consists of about 4 - 6 games or mini-tournaments and a regional/state tournament.

The girls teams play tournament style rugby with four to five (5) competitions held about every three weeks.

Committed athletes with strong rugby skills and fitness may participate in the TOLA Summer 7s League.  This requires frequent travel outside the DFW area for tournaments and is intended for whose looking to play as part of PCR's select-side / high performance program.

Athletes are strongly encouraged to participate in all available skill clinic clinics to further improve their level of play.
Youth-Side Teams
    • U13 - Elementary School (age 11, 12)
    • U11 - Elementary School (age 9, 10)
    • U9 - Elementary School (age 6, 7, 8)

Except for the U13 age group, all teams in the
Youth-Side Division are coed.  Contact play is considered developmental and may be adjusted as determined appropriate by the coaches and/or referee to ensure safety.

Youth-Side tackle teams only participate in a spring season starting mid-February and ending mid-April.  Practices are twice weekly (Tuesday, Thursday), 6:00pm - 7:15 or 8:00pm, depending on age group.

Athletes are strongly encouraged to participate in the American Flag Rugby Program to improve their level of play.

Possible Adjustments: If the participant shows significant physical and emotional development, he/she may be allowed to move up to the next age
group.

**  If an age group is not yet available, the participant will be offered the opprotunity to compete with an area club during games and tournaments.
